LAYNE. thomas. staley. one of da grunge GODS okay. he's been really special 2 me lately,,, often times i'll just connect with certain musicians or things and i'll accept that input from the stars and really look into it. and i did!!! and i love you layne. let's ALL love layne. the clip above i do quite like,, it was recorded in '94 when he was sober,, and had put a bit of weight on... i wish things could've stayed that way. every time i see something about layne it's just dreadfully sad,, and this is obviously a lot if not most rock documentaries i mean john frusciante like everything is documenting some dark descent into madness and drugs and whatever. and i get that you know,, the comments are often like yeah i'm an addict i'm tryna quit or. yeah this is so sad. but still i think it's important to focus on his life too...not just seeing him as some addict. because that's not what he is. not to me anyway. think sarah lynn when beatrice was like "you DIED in a hedonistic bender" and then she was like "i'm not talking about my death i'm talking about my LIFE i gave MY WHOLE LIFE"... obviously i love all of aic i mean jerry mwah my baby but. the rest of the band honestly i don't give a fuck and i have a special spot for layne so. we're gonna talk about hiiimmm ♡(｡- ω -)

deep inhale k so there was this guy WILLIAM AFTON....

layne was born on the 22nd of august 1967 WHICH IS THE FUCKING DAY BEFORE MINE. DUDE. augh. i love him. when he was tiny, he wrote in his dr suess "my book about me by me myself" book that he wanted to be a SINGER. his mother was like yeah whatev. but as we know now he did actually become a singer!! it's said that in his childhood he was kinda quiet, he liked pestering his younger sister and had a good relationship with his older sister!! when he was 17/18 he joined the band SLEZE. well. how did this come 2 be?? we have johnny on guitar, james on drums and byron on bass,, and they needed a vocalist. ken elmer, layne's stepbrother recommended layne saying "he plays drums but he wants to be a singer" (AWWWWWWW) and SO layne ELMER (that was his name at da time) although reluctant and a little shy said okay!! johnny recalls him being very shy and timid but they were totallyyy blown away by his voice. they were a very short lived band, i think they were in a movie or tv show for like a split second too most of this is from memory k i'm not THAT advanced. anyway, they then changed their name to "alice n' chains" which they stole from a band of drunk drag queens? they wanted to be called alice IN chains but were worried it was too freaky even layne's mother really hated the name but whatev then i think they did change it to alice in chains i'm not sure but uh doesn't matter because then they broke up on FRIENDLY terms.

help when i watched this show for the first time and he said this is love, hate, love (aka my fave aic song) i started squealing i genuinely got sososo excited if i was there i'd be hootin and hollerin oh my god....!!!!11!!.!M! i ALSO love to listen to aic while i play doom lately,, and i sing along with layneeeee even though i really suck because sigh. how could i ever possibly compare to this man. i don't think until you've TRIED to sing you'll properly understand his mastery because yeahhh i can sing withabitta grit you know like a sprinkle of fry but ALL THE WAY UP THERE?!??!!?! PERFECTLY!???!??! dude.....how. what!!!

YEAH.

this is a picture from layne's last show in detroit and it makes me supa sad like. whatever his ghostly appearance. even with the glasses he does not look like himself at ALL..ps: i hate when he wears the glasses i never really like someone's eyes but his eyes i actually think are super pretty and i really like you know.. so the fact that he always had to hide that. is. so sad.
